Sally Mapstone (born 1958) is the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education at the University of Oxford, Professor of Older Scots Literature in the Faculty of English and a Fellow of St Hilda's College, Oxford.[1] She was previously Pro-Vice Chancellor for Personnel and Equality. On 22 February 2016, she was announced as the next Principal of the University of St Andrews and will assume her position in September 2016.[2]
Early life and education
Sally Mapstone grew up in West London and received degrees in English from Wadham and St Cross College, Oxford. She gained her DPhil in 1985.[3]
Career
Mapstone is Honorary President of the Scottish Text Society, an Honorary Fellow of the Association for Scottish Literary Studies, and a Fellow of the English Association. Her research and publications are on Older Scots literature, dealing primarily with literature in Scots and in Latin, with political literature, and with book history.[3]
