The Most Holy Church of God in Christ Jesus (Filipino: Kabanalbanalang Iglesia ng Dios kay Kristo Hesus),[1][2] is an independent Christian denomination officially registered in the Philippines by Teofilo D. Ora in May 1922. The Church claims to restore the visible Church founded in Jerusalem by Christ Jesus.

It has spread to areas including California, USA; Calgary, Canada, Dubai, UAE and other Asian countries. The Church will be celebrating its centennial anniversary on May 2022.

History

The church was registered by Bishop Teofilo D. Ora in 1922. The church was first called Iglesia Verdadera de Cristo Hesus (True Church of Christ Jesus). It was not until 1935 that the name Church of God in Christ Jesus (1 Thes. 2:14) was revealed to a pious deaconess from the Province of Bulacan (about 70 km north of Manila, Island of Luzon in the Philippines) named Sis. Mercedez Verde and actually used in that same year through one of the Ministers in the Church, Bro. Marcelo Cabayan.

When Bishop T. Ora died in 1969, Bishop Salvador Payawal took over as the Church Bishop. Philippine Islands Church of God in Christ Jesus was registered in 1979 as the name to emphasize that the Church was to be established in a place described by Prophet Isaiah (Isa. 24:15). However, following a religious doctrine controversy, Nicolas Perez split off from the church and registered an offshoot called Iglesia ng Dios kay Kristo Hesus, Haligi at Suhay ng Katotohanan (Church of God in Christ Jesus, the Pillar and Support of the Truth).

It was during the accession of the Church Bishop Gamaliel T. Payawal (his spiritual name is Bro. Neziah) in 1990 when the Most Holy Church of God in Christ Jesus (Kabanalbanalang Iglesia ng Dios kay Kristo Hesus) (Lev. 28:27; 1 Thes. 2:14) was effected.[3]

Anthem and Flag

The church's anthem is the "Psalm of Zion", which is based on 1 Peter 2:9-10. The church flag is based on the design of the Philippine national flag, having a white triangle with its base at the hoist, and a bi-color field, in this case gold and red. The church's seal is in the triangle. In this example it is oriented to correspond to the vertical hoist. The seal on the flag has a gold eagle on top, clutching a white arching ribbon with red upper case letters reading KABANALBABANALANG. Beneath the ribbon is a ring formed by a gold cord on the outer edge and a gold chain on the inner edge, voided white, with red upper case letters reading IGLESIA NG DIOS in the upper half and KAY KRISTO HESUS in the lower. Within the ring is a gold upright anchor on a background voided white.[4][5]

Radio Programs

The church has an evangelistic radio program, Ang Kabanalbanalan, which airs on radio stations in the Philippines, including:
