Sam Young (born 27 July 1979), is a West London DJ, remixer and producer. He is the son of the photographer Richard Young. Sam has played high profile events such as George Clooney's wedding in Venice in 2014, Elton John's 60th birthday party, various Brit Awards after parties for Sony BMG, film premieres such as The Hobbit, Entourage, Sex and the City, The Golden Compass, Hugo to name a few, fashion events for Gucci, Valentino, Christoper Kane, parties for Drake, Rick Ross, Timbaland, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, Mark Ronson, Pharrell Williams, Justin Timberlake. Sam also DJ'd the Team USA Olympics 2012 closing party alongside Swizz Beats and Nas.

Early life

During his teenage years he developed an interest in hip hop, R&B, early house music and jungle, his first cassette purchase was Bobby Brown's 'Don't Be Cruel' album. The turning point came when his elder brother Danny was given a pair of turntables for Christmas and promptly left them in his room when he went back to college. Sam commandeered the decks, taught himself to DJ and started playing at friends' parties at Hammersmith Town Hall, as well as venturing into pirate radio (Juice FM).

At 18, he received his break. At a Donna Karan Party with his father, he introduced himself as a DJ to party planner Jeanette Calliva who had begun putting on nights at Chinawhite. Two days later, when her booked DJ dropped out, Sam got the call and before long was a regular booking playing parties at her nights at the Mayfair Club and Chinawhite.

DJ career

Sam has DJ'd at Boujis (12 year resident), Chinawhite, LIV (Miami), Opera (Atlanta), MurMur (Atlantic City), Playhouse (LA), Gold Bar (NYC), Club 29 (Istanbul), Indochine (Zurich), Movida, Maddox, The Box (London and NYC), Mansion (Miami), Louis (Miami), Embargo 59, Raffles, Automat, Griffin (NYC), The Eldridge (NYC) to name a few.

He has worked at well over 500 high profile events ranging from Elton John's birthday, Naomi Campbell's London Fashion Week party, Versace Parties, Vice Magazine, parties by Justin Timberlake and Guy Ritchie and the Monaco Grand Prix.[1]

He also DJ'd at the O2 Wireless festival with Jay-Z and Mark Ronson, opened for Hot Chip in Manchester and plays yearly at the Chinawhite Cartier Polo Mansion which has had guests such as Mark Ronson, Axwell, Pete Tong, Erick Morillo etc.

He was also responsible for signing Kasabian to Sony BMG in 2002 and did 3 years of A&R and talent scouting at Concept Music.[2]
