Sampson W. Keeble

Sampson W. Keeble (1833-1887) was an African American born into slavery who became a barber and a businessman and in 1873 became the first African American member of the Tennessee Legislature, serving in the Tennessee House of Representatives as a Republican member from Davidson County.[1]
