Samuel Waugh
For the American banker, see Samuel C. Waugh.
Samuel Waugh (1814 in Mercer, Pennsylvania – 1885) was a 19th-century painter.
He became one of the most famous portrait painters of Philadelphia. He was also known for his Italian panoramas, most of which he created during an eight-year stay in Italy.
His son Frederick Judd Waugh (1861–1940), born in New Jersey, is best remembered as a marine painter; his grandson, Coulton Waugh, was also an artist, known for his work on the comic strip Dickie Dare.
