Samui Centre of Learning, Koh Samui, Thailand, (SCL) is a British curriculum international school established in 2004 by Roz Thompson and Emma Dyas.[1]
The school offers the British Curriculum from nursery to secondary (nursery-Year 11). Samui Centre of Learning is the longest-running[2] international school and an examination centre on Koh Samui, and is continually growing and expanding in terms of facilities, staff and students.
Curriculum
Samui Centre of Learning operates within the framework of the National Curriculum for England and Wales. Children receive an hour of Thai language tuition everyday and learn about Thai Culture, Thai Music and Thai Dancing.
Once students have progress through Key Stages 1, 2 and 3, they are entered for National Curriculum tests. The school is accredited by Cambridge International Examinations as an international examinations centre and IGCSE examinations are held at the end of Year 11.
Classes are taught only by qualified teaching staff holding either a PGCE or Bachelor of Education and are predominantly British nationals. Where necessary, children receive EAL (English as an additional language) support from qualified teachers.
