Sanam Marvi (Urdu: صنم ماروی, Sindhi صنم ماروي) (born 1986) is a Pakistani folk and sufi singer. She sings in Punjabi and Sindhi languages.
Career
Sanam Marvi debuted at ‘Virsa Heritage’, a programme on PTV. She has appeared at Coke Studio, a Pakistani television series featuring live music performances.
Marvi performs sufi concerts around the world. She is considered among the finest performers in the Sufi, ghazal and folk genres[2]
She made her debut in a solo performance at 2010's Jahan-e-Khusrau, the Sufi music festival.[3] In February 2011, she performed with Indian playback singer Rekha Bhardwaj at Times of India's Aman ki Asha at Chowmahalla Palace, Hyderabad.[4]
Marvi made her Bollywood singing debut with Ali Zafar starrer London, Paris, New York, singing alongside with Hadiqa Kiyani and Ali Zafar.
Personal life
Sanam Marvi is married to Hamid Ali Khan. They have three children.[5] Her first husband, Aftab Ahmed Pharero, also known as Aftab Ahmed Kalhoro, was murdered in Karachi in 2009.[6][7] They had married in 2006 but had been estranged for two years prior to his death. Marvi was Aftab's second wife.
