Sanjay Rath (Odia: ସଞୟ ରଥ; born 7 August 1963 at Sambalpur, Odisha) is an Indian astrologer.[1] He comes from a traditional family of astrologers from Bira Balabhadrapur Sasan village in Puri, which trace their lineage back to Shri Achyuta Das (Acyutananda).[2] Sanjay Rath studied under his uncle, the late Pandit Kasinath Rath. His grandfather, the late Pandit Jagannath Rath, was the Jyotish Ratna of Odisha and authored many books on Jyotisha.
Sanjay Rath became a graduate of mechanical engineering and joined the Government of India[3] in July 1991. He was promoted to Under Secretary in the Ministry of Defence in October 1997. Sanjay Rath resigned from government service in September 2000 to focus on Jyotisha.
To promote the teachings of his paramparā Sanjay Rath has formed a non-profit organisation called Śrī Jagannāth Center where his advanced students are helping to spread Jyotiṣa in a way that keeps its spiritual roots. Students learn not only about Jyotiṣa, but also Mantra Śāstra, mudra, prāṇayāma, meditation, and the Sanātana Dharma.
