The Sankuaicuo Train Station (Chinese: 三塊厝車站; pinyin: Sānkuàicuò Chēzhàn) is a former train station in Sanmin District, Kaohsiung, Taiwan.[1]
History
The southern railway project begin at the beginning of Japanese rule of Taiwan in 1908. Sankuaicuo station was the first station on the eastern spur. During that time, the train station contributed greatly to the local industry. However, its importance was gradually replaced with the opening of Kaohsiung Station on 22 June 1941. The travelers number slowly decreased and the station was finally abandoned on 26 September 1986.
Architecture
The station building was built with bricks, cement and mortar. It is covered with washed stone.
Transportation
The station building is accessible within walking distance west of Kaohsiung Station.
