Sara Reisman

Sara Reisman is an American curator. In 2015 she was named Artistic Director of the Rubin Foundation. (http://blogs.artinfo.com/artintheair/2015/04/29/sara-reisman-named-artistic-director-of-the-rubin-foundation/) Prior to that she was the director of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs' percent for art program that commissions permanent public art works for newly constructed and renovated city-owned spaces, indoors and out.[1]

Her commissioned artists include Mary Mattingly, Duke Riley, Roxy Paine, Odili Donald Odita, Julianne Swartz, and Karyn Olivier.

Reisman has curated exhibitions and projects for numerous institutions, including Smack Mellon (Dumbo, Brooklyn), Queens Museum of Art; Socrates Sculpture Park (Astoria, Queens), Institute of Contemporary Art (Philadelphia, Pennsylvania), Museum of Modern Art of Republika Srpska (Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina), and Kunsthalle Exnergasse (Vienna, Austria).

In 2008, she was associate dean of Cooper Union’s School of Art.[2]

She was the 2011 critic-in-residence at Art Omi, an visual artist residency in Upstate New York.
