Sarajevo metropolitan area is the largest agglomeration in Bosnia and Herzegovina representing the wider area of the capital Sarajevo with an estimated population of 688,354 people.[1]
It consists of Sarajevo Canton with an estimated population of 469,400[2] inhabitants, East Sarajevo with approximately 77,000[3] inhabitants, municipalities Breza, Visoko, Fojnica, Kiseljak, Olovo and Kreševo. Sarajevo metropolitan area is economically the strongest area of Bosnia and Herzegovina and generates more than 45%[4] of the national GDP.
