Saša Simonović (Serbian Cyrillic: Саша Симоновић; born 20 July 1975) is a former Serbian footballer who played as a midfielder.

Career

Simonović started growing his football skills in Radnički Niš between 1988 and 1994. He played for Železničar Niš, Greek Aris Thessaloniki and FK Obilić, before moved to Levski Sofia in 2002 for fee of 750 000 €.

PFC Levski Sofia - 1st period

He scored his first goal for the club in his first match against CSKA Sofia. For three seasons, Saša earned 83 appearances for Levski, scored 20 goals. In June 2005 Simonović transferred to Vihren Sandanski.

Bulgarian teams

From 2006 to 2008 played in Slavia Sofia, and in season 2008-09 is a part of Lokomotiv Mezdra.

PFC Levski Sofia - 2nd period

On 5 August 2009, it was announced that Saša will return Levski. He arrived in Bulgaria on the next day, to join Levski for the second time. Few hours later, Simonović signed a 2-year contract with the club.[1] Saša made his redebut for Levski on 15 August 2009 in a match against Minyor Pernik.

During 2009/2010 season, the Levski's team started their European campaign with 9:0 (on aggregate) in the second Qualifying round of Champions League against UE Sant Julià. On the next round, Levski Sofia faced FK Baku. The blues eliminated the team from Azerbaijan with 2:0 (on aggregate). In the play-off round Levski was eliminated by Debreceni VSC with 4:1 (on aggregate). However, Levski qualified for UEFA Europa League.

In total, Simonović appeared in more than 150 matches in the A PFG.[2]
