Sashi P. Reddi born on 27 May 1965 in Madras (Chennai) is an Indian entrepreneur,[1] technologist and angel investor.

He was the founder and CEO of AppLabs,[2] a software testing company based in Philadelphia, US which was acquired by Computer Sciences Corporation (NYSE: CSC) in September 2011,.[3] At the time of the acquisition, AppLabs had over 2,500 people in India, US, and UK and served many leading companies in financial services, travel, retail, and technology.[4] Post acquisition, Reddi took over the leadership of the Independent Testing Services division within CSC and in September 2012 was elevated to lead CSC's big data and analytics business.

In 2007 Reddi also founded SRI Capital, a seed stage venture capital fund focused on start-ups in India, the US, and the UK.[5] SRI Capital focuses on venture investments in technology, education and the green technology sectors.

Early life and education

Reddi completed a BTech (Computer Sciences) from IIT Delhi and went to New York University for an MS in Computer Science.[6] He then attended the Wharton School of Business, University of Pennsylvania from where he acquired a PhD in Operations and Information Management.[6] Today, Reddi serves on the advisory board of the Wharton Entrepreneurial Programs and the advisory board of IIT Hyderabad.[7]

Reddi's research articles have been published in leading journals and he is a regular speaker at industry events. His paper titled 'The Impact of IT on the Degree of Outsourcing, the Number of Suppliers, and the Duration' won him the best paper award at the 27th Hawaii International Conference on System Sciences.[8]

Career

After graduating from Wharton with a PhD in 1994, Reddi launched his first company EZPower Systems, a developer of products for building and maintaining large-scale web applications.[6] EZPower was acquired by DocuCorp in 1998. DocuCorp was itself later acquired by Skywire, which was then acquired by Oracle Corporation. EZPower technology still continues to be a part of Oracle's document management offerings.

Following EZPower, in 1999, Reddi founded iCoop. iCoop was an internet based group purchasing service for traditional cooperatives which filed 3 patents for online group purchasing.[9]

In 2001 he founded AppLabs as a 3 person independent software testing and quality management company in a shared office space in Philadelphia, which grew to 2,500 employees in the US, UK, and India.

In September 2004, Reddi founded FXLabs, a developer of video games for PCs, consoles, MMOG, and handhelds.[10]

SRI Capital

In 2012 Reddi founded SRI Capital, a company which is a seed stage venture capital fund serving start-ups focused on investing in India, the US, and the UK . The company invests between $250,000 to $500,000 in the seed round for a significant minority stake in ventures.[11][12] Here is a list of the companies funded by SRI Capital

ACT

Reddi is actively involved in philanthropic activities through ACT Charitable Trust. ACT, set up in 2006, has been involved in community initiatives including setting up infrastructure for in need schools, running programs to improve health and nutrition for children, adopting and sponsoring underserved schools and children and more.[15]

He has also adopted 3 schools: Madinaguda Govt. Primary School, which houses 200 students, AppLabs Government Primary School, Filmnagar, which houses 180 students, and Gopanapally Govt. Primary School, which houses 175 students.

Apart from chairing ACT, Reddi actively supports the efforts of Interplast, an international NGO which provides free reconstructive surgery for the poor in developing countries. Interplast treats children and adults with clefts, disabling burns and hand injuries.

In July 2012 Reddi was awarded TalentSprint Special Recognition Award for his collaboration and mentorship in the design of industry-led, just-in-time inventory management. He also serves on the advisory board of the Wharton Entrepreneurial Programs, the advisory board of IIT Hyderabad and is a charter member of TiE Hyderabad.
