Satyabadi Bana Bidyalaya
Satyabadi bana bidyalaya was an experiment in the field of education by Pandit Gopabandhu Das. It was a school that started at Sakhigopal, Odisha in 1909 with a meagre strength of 19 students. This was the school that Gopabandhu envisioned as an ideal school. According to Gopabandhu, schools had to become man-making industries and had to be instrumental in the harmonious development of a child's personality. Bana bidyalaya was a model for other schools. Here, children from all castes and classes sat, dined, lived and studied together. There was ample scope for co-curricular activities like social service, exercise, Kavi sammelans etc. in the school. The school aimed to cultivate ideals of patriotism in the hearts of students. Sir Ashutosh Mukherjee and many other scholars were highly impressed by its simplicity and naturalistic harmonious approach towards Education.[1]
