It was founded in 1886 in the Mutasarrifate of Jerusalem, Ottoman Empire as Schmidt's Girls' School. At the time it was a Catholic institution. It later became known as Schmidt's College.[7] The school's area became a part of the British Mandate of Palestine before becoming a part of Israel-controlled East Jerusalem.
