The northern white-crowned tapaculo (Scytalopus atratus) is a species of bird in the Rhinocryptidae family.
It is found in Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Peru, and Venezuela. Its natural habitat is subtropical, tropical or tropical moist montane forests.
