Sean Maguire (ice hockey)

Sean Maguire (born February 2, 1993 in Powell River, British Columbia) is a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender. He signed with NHL’s Pittsburgh Penguins in April 2016.

Career

Maguire played for the North Island Silvertips in the British Columbia Hockey Major Midget League and joined the Powell River Kings of the BCHL in 2010, where he spent two years before enrolling at Boston University.[1] He represented Team Canada West at the 2011 World Junior A Challenge, winning gold, while taking home top goaltender honors.[2] He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2012 (4th round, 113th overall).

Maguire made 62 appearances for BU during his college career, recording six shutouts, while compiling a 2.58 goals-against average, and a .922 save percentage.[3]

In April 2016, he inked a two-year entry-level contract with the Pittsburgh Penguins of the National Hockey League (NHL), beginning with the 2016-17 season, and was added to the roster of the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins for the remainder of the 2015-16 AHL season.[4]
