What is Ultimate?

Ultimate is a fast-paced non-contact sport, played 7v7 on a football-sized field. Ultimate incorporates the big plays of football, the field movement of soccer, and the pace of basketball to create a fan-friendly sport.

What is the AUDL? (American Ultimate Disc League)

The American Ultimate Disc League is the first and largest ultimate league in the world. The league's mission is to increase the visibility of one of North America's fastest growing sports by creating fun, family friendly events that showcase the sport being played at its highest level. There are currently 26 teams in the AUDL.

Who are The Seattle Cascades?

The Seattle Cascades are a fairly new team to the American Ultimate Disc League (AUDL). This is their 2nd season in the league and last year they placed 2nd in the West division behind the two time champions San Jose Spiders. In this 2016 year they are looking to make a run for the national title that eluded them last season.

How did the Seattle Cascades get their name?

The name "Seattle Cascades" refers to the Cascade Mountain Range which runs through Washington State. The 2014 "Seattle Raptors" name will be retired.

When do the Seattle Cascades play?

We will play 14 regular season games against the five other teams in the AUDL West Division:

Seven home games in Memorial Stadium, at the foot of the Space Needle. Seven away games in various cities on the West Coast.

At the conclusion of the regular season, the top teams in the division will play games to compete for one spot at Championship Weekend where they will be tested by the top team from the Midwest, East, and South Divisions. Link below for dates and times. http://www.seattlecascades.com/schedule/

Cascades Community

When it comes to ultimate, the Pacific Northwest is where it's at. We have top-notch players, excellent college programs, middle school and high school leagues, an excellent regional governing body, national caliber athletes, a vibrant sports and outdoors culture, and an overall strong disc community. The table is set, and now it's time to put together a great program that will make this part of the country proud.

There are a number of entities in our area which we care care about immensely. Whether through partnership, sponsorship, collaboration, or shared values, our success is mutual. Our goals is to be a part of an ultimate community that grows and improves together.

Cascades Mission and Values

As we work to build an outstanding ultimate program, we carry with us a set of core values: integrity, community, and athletic excellence.

As a subset of these core values, we believe in a world where integrity and athletic excellence go hand in hand, and male and female athletes have equal value and opportunity to compete.

To get there we have to reshape societal norms around gender, sports, and honorable competition. We’re making progress on this vision by focusing on officiation and gender issues in our sport. Through our partners, sponsors, athletes, and community we are excited to play a role in building a better sport, not just a bigger one.

Do women play ultimate?

Absolutely! Seattle is home to one of the best women's teams in the entire world, Seattle Riot. Seattle has other women's teams, such as Seattle Underground, Seattle Seismic, and Seattle Roar. There are also mixed teams, which feature a 4:3 ratio of males and females on the field. Seattle has excellent mixed teams as well, such as Seattle MixTape, who took second last year at the National Club Championships. Recently, one of the owners of the Seattle Cascades, Qxhna Titcomb, created a team of female college All-Stars that traveled around the States and played the top club teams. All of the games were streamed live and free and charge, and can be watched here.

Is there a professional league for women?

Unfortunately, there is not currently a professional ultimate league which largely features women. Steps are being made to promote the involvement of women in ultimate. For example, the Raleigh Flyers signed Jessi Jones to a game against the Nashville Nightwatch in 2015. Who knows what the future will hold? We are ever optimistic. The Seattle Cascades are a professional ultimate team that competes in the Western Division of the American Ultimate Disc League. The season runs April-July. As we work to build an outstanding ultimate program, we carry with us a set of core values: integrity, community, and athletic excellence.
