Seiichi Tejima

Seiichi Tejima (手島 精一 Tejima Seiichi, 1850-01-11 - 1918-01-23^[1]) was a Japanese educator of the Meiji period. He was a co-founder of what is today Kyoritsu Women's University. The asteroid 8731 Tejima was named after him.

He was the first president of what later became the Tokyo Institute of Technology, serving from 1890-1898, 1899-1901 and 1901-1916.
