Sérgio Pessoa is a Brazilian-born Canadian judoka who competes in the men's 60 kg category.[1] At the 2012 Summer Olympics, he was defeated in the second round. He finished 5th at the 2015 Pan American Games.

Since the 2012 Summer Olympics, Sergio underwent two major knee surgeries, from which many thought he would never recover. In 2014, he finally made it back to the tatami with his eye on the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio. To fund this goal, he created a crowdfunding campaign on MAKEACHAMP in the winter of 2015.[2]
