The Serra de Rubió is a mountain range located in Catalonia, Spain. Its highest peak is the Còpia de Palomes, with an elevation of 837 metres. It stretches from east to west between Anoia and Bages. The Maçana River has its sources in the Maçana mountains, on the Serra de Rubió.[2][3]

The Serra de Rubió is located in Central Catalonia. This mountain range separates the natural counties of Igualada and Els Prats de Rei. In the mountain range there are many chapels: Sant Martí de Maçana, Santa Maria del Grauet, Santa Anna de Pedrafita and Santa Maria de Rubió. In the mountain range is a refuge, Mas del Tronc.

In Serra de Rubió are four chappels; Sant Martí de Maçana, Santa Maria de Rubió, Santa Anna de Pedrafita, Santa Maria del Greuet and Santa Cevília de Grevalosa.

The bandits Marimon i Casulleres of the First Carlist War used to rob the citizens who lived in the mountain range, and they had their base near that of the Esquadres Catalanes police force (currently Mossos d'Esquadra). They were killed by police in 1841.

Wind Park of the Serra de Rubió

The Wind Park of the Serra de Rubió is a wind farm located in the highest peaks of the range. It comprises a total of 50 wind turbines, making this the largest wind farm in Catalonia. These turbines are capable of producing energy for 30,000 homes.

Wildlife

The vegetation is among the most diverse in Central Catalonia. The forests contain Pinus halepensis, Pinus nigra, Pinus sylvestris, oak, and Quercus ilex. There is also rosemary and Erica. There are many types of wildlife in the forests. There are boar, deer, fox, squirrel and rabbit.
