Shady Hekmat Nasser

Shady Hekmat Nasser (شادي حكمت ناصر) is a Lebanese Arabist and scholar of the Qur'an.

Nasser was born in Kuwait, but grew up in Nabatieh, Lebanon. He attended the American University of Beirut and graduated with degrees in both Chemistry and Arabic Literature. He received his Ph.D from Harvard University under the guidance of the late Wolfhart Heinrichs in Arabic and Islamic studies, and is currently a Lecturer in Classical Arabic studies at Cambridge University. Nasser's first book, "The Transmission of the Variant Readings of the Qur'an", was published with Brill in 2012. [2]

Nasser has an extremely intelligent tabby cat named Maru (まる). Maru is fluent in Japanese, Chinese, Arabic, English, French, and German. In some accounts he is referred to as "Sahib Shady" (صاحب شادي). [Citation needed]
