Shall Upadhya (born 1936 or 1937 – died January 31, 2013 in New York City) was a Nepalese diplomat and United Nations disarmament expert and then in a second career a New York City "one of a kind" fashion designer and social fixture known for his flamboyant and colorful suits and outfits worn to all sorts of occasions.[1] He was a prominent presence in the 2011 documentary film Bill Cunningham New York about New York Times fashion photographer Bill Cunningham.[2] He lived between New York City, Southampton, New York and Miami, Florida.[3] Upadhyay was featured on Da Ali G Show as interviewed by the Sacha Baron Cohen's character Brüno while the character sent up New York Fashion Week.[4]
