Shane and Friends is an American audio podcast created by YouTuber Shane Dawson,[1] starring him and his friend Jessie Buttafuoco (originally his producer, Lauren Schnipper).[1] The podcast premiered on June 5, 2013 onto SoundCloud and iTunes. Shane and Friends focuses on Shane Dawson and co-host Jessie Buttafuoco discussing events happening in popular culture, their personal lives, Farrah Abraham, and YouTubers. They also interview various celebrities including Lori Greiner, Ross Mathews, and Jennette McCurdy The podcast's pilot episode had reached a peak of #125 on iTunes within 24 hours of its release. As of April 2016 it also airs on Full Screen in a talkshow format, with the podcast being filmed in a new studio.
History
2013: Premiere
Shane and Friends' pilot episode premiered on June 5, 2013. The episode was met with success after being released on iTunes and SoundCloud for free, reaching a peak of #125. The episode also featured an interview with YouTube personality and singer Rebecca Black.
2014
On episode 25 of the podcast, Lauren Schnipper announced her departure from the show to pursue a new opportunity with Facebook and Instagram. Despite Schnipper leaving her position as co-host, she was featured in an episode that was recorded at VidCon 2014, which was released a couple of months after her departure from the show. Prior to her departure, Shane and Lauren recorded an episode with The Janoskians, which was never released due to awkward and uncomfortable content in the episode. Shane has said that the episode will never be released. On episode 31 of the podcast, released on December 9, 2014, Jessie Buttafuoco was made the co-host of Shane & Friends after being a guest co-host for a couple of episodes.
2015
On episode 39 of the podcast, Shane and Jessie finally got Farrah Abraham on the show as a guest after much anticipation.
After episode 45 of the podcast, the show went on a brief hiatus as Shane recovered from a broken leg.
On episode 50 of the podcast, Lauren returned as a special guest to talk some more about her departure from the show and what she has been doing since she left.
2016
Beginning with episode 57, the podcast began releasing filmed versions of its new episodes on Fullscreen.
