Shashotep

Shashotep was an Ancient Egypt town in Upper Egypt. In the Middle Kingdom it was the main town of the 11th Upper Egyptian province. It is the modern ash-Shatb. The Greeks called the town Hyselis. The main deity of ancient Shashotep was Khnum, who is sometimes called Lord of Shashotep. Schashotep is first mentioned in texts of the First Intermediate Period. The cemeteries near the modern place Rifeh, once belonged to the town.[1]
