Shaun Doherty (Irish: Seán Ó Dochartaigh; born 20 August 1964 in Stoke-on-Trent) is a radio presenter with Highland Radio based in Letterkenny, County Donegal, Ireland. He is Ireland's most popular radio presenter, according to analysts, and is considered an institution in the north-west.[1] He is also the promotions manager of Highland Radio.[2] Shaun's father was a native of Inishowen.
In 2011, Kim Bielenberg said in the Irish Independent that Doherty would be a natural replacement for Joe Duffy on RTÉ Radio 1's Liveline.[1]
The Shaun Doherty Show
He currently presents The Shaun Doherty Show, on weekdays from 10.00am-1.00pm, featuring discussions and debates on current affairs. The show won a PPI Radio Award in 2001 [3] and Shaun was nominated for broadcaster of the year in 2006.[4] Shaun himself is a key figure to County Donegal, Derry City and West Tyrone. Not only does he make all local issues noticed but he also keeps the entire county itself entertained. The show is produced by Caroline Orr & Ciara Mackey & assisted Marion Potts. In October 2010, Shaun was presented with a Donegal Person of the Year Award, recognising his services to broadcasting in the county, and also his commitment to the hospice movement.
He has been dogged by rumours that he is to move to a national radio station.[1]
