Sheru Classic

Sheru Classic Production (SCP) is an Indian fitness company founded in 2006 by Sheru Aangrish, India’s second professional bodybuilder, which organizes the annual Sheru Classic pro-bodybuilding competition, since 2011.[1][2][3] In 2008 the company signed on for the Gold's Gym franchisee in North India and have since opened gyms in Delhi, Noida and Punjab. It began organising bodybuilding events, "Sheru Classic" in 2009.[4] Founder, Hemant Sheru Aangrish has remained a driving force behind the IFBB event's success.[5]

In 2010 Jim Manion (Chairman of the IFBB Pro league) and the Weider group, granted an approval to Sheru Classic for the first ever International Federation of BodyBuilders (IFBB) Professional Bodybuilding and Figure show in Asia and the first show took place in September 2011 in Mumbai.[6][7][8] Sheru Classic 2012 is set to take place at Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium, New Delhi in October.[9][10]

Controversies

In 2013, a series of allegations had been raised against the organizers of Sheru Classic. The individuals who claimed about the foul play includes Former Mr. Olympia, Dorian Yates, Kris Gethin, Neil Hill and Marika Gethin.[11] Sheru Aangrish denied these allegations.[12] In another allegation, Aangrish was accused of misusing the name of the IFBB following which, Chetan Pathare, general secretary, IFBB, approached the Cyber Crime Cell. A complaint was issued against Aangrish. Pathare alleged that Aangrish had falsely used IFBB’s name to promote his Sheru Classic which is to be held at Shri Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Sports Complex, Balewadi stadium in Pune.[13]
