Shire of Calliope was a local government area in the Capricornia region of Queensland, Australia. It was centred on the town of Calliope.[1]
History
Calliope Division was created on 11 November 1879 as one of 74 divisions around Queensland under the Divisional Boards Act 1879 with a population of 1044.[2]
On 7 January 1902 part of Calliope Division was separated to create Miriam Vale Division.[3]
With the passage of the Local Authorities Act 1902, Calliope Division became the Shire of Calliope on 31 March 1903.
In 1927, the council hall was in Gladstone.[4]
