Shirelive Church (formerly Christian Growth Centre) is a Pentecostal Christian church affiliated with Australian Christian Churches, the Australian branch of the Assemblies of God denomination. The church's main campus is located in the commercial district of Sutherland, a southern suburb of Sydney, Australia, in the local government area of the Sutherland Shire. The senior pastors are Brad & Alison Bonhomme, who on 20 October 2013 were passed the leadership from Pastors Michael and Valery Murphy, who had led since 1996.[1] Michael is also a member of the National Executive of the Australian Christian Churches,[2] which oversees more than 1,100 churches.
History
The church was founded in 1957 by Pastor Norman Armstrong.[3] The church grew to a size of 300 and remained small for several decades. In the 1980s, a new building to accommodate 600 people was constructed. It has since been demolished and replaced with the Shirelive Convention Centre.
In 2007,[4] the church undertook a building project which consisted of stage one, major demolition of existing auditorium, youth centre with the construction of a new 1090 seat convention centre.
Ministry
Shirelive Church runs many different ministries in addition to weekend services and events.
Shirelive Kids Pastored by Hannah Shand is the children's ministry of Shirelive Church. Shirelive Church provides a children's program for all weekend services.
Shirelive Youth Pastored by Jackson Moore, Alex Johnson and Alyssa Searles. Shirelive Youth, is the Youth Ministry of Shirelive Church. We are passionate about Jesus and the next generation. We exist to make a difference in the Sutherland Shire. We run two age groups every Friday Night. IGNITE: Junior High (Years 6-8) 5:30PM IMPACT: Senior High (Years 9-12) 7:00PM
Shirelive Young Adults Pastored by Timothy Biasetto. In 2016 Shirelive Young Adults launched Avant Garde Conference, which is a three day event held at Shirelive Church for young adults across Australia on SEPTEMBER 29TH - OCTOBER 1ST The Avant-Garde Conference is tailor made for young adults, a mix of faith filled preaching and worship, creativity and the arts, apologetics, practical teaching, amid plenty of socialising. The member for Cook and Treasurer Scott Morrison and family are part of the Shirelive congregation.[5]
