SilkRoad, Inc. is an American multinational human capital management software company. SilkRoad provides cloud-based HR software solutions that enable customers to find, attract, develop, and retain talent.[3] SilkRoad is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, and has regional offices around the world. The company has more than 1800 corporate clients, that are primarily small-to-medium sized businesses, and larger clients including IBM, eBay, L'Oréal, and Clear Channel Communications.[4]
History
SilkRoad, Inc. was founded in North Carolina in 2003 by Andrew "Flip" Filipowski with Eprise, and launched at HR Tech show in Chicago in 2005.
SilkRoad acquired OpenHire, based in Winston-Salem in 2004.[5]
SilkRoad acquired VTN Technologies, Inc., a company known for its Olé Online Learning Environment training software, in 2008,[6] and had raised $54 million in Series C funding by this year.[7] The company also opened offices in Asia and the Pacific Rim.
The company headquarters relocated to Chicago in 2010, but the Winston-Salem location is still a design and development center.[8]
Investors include Foundation Capital, Azure Capital Partners, Tenaya Capital, Intel Capital, Keating Capital, and Crosslink Ventures. In May 2012, SilkRoad announced it had secured $35 million financing in a Series C Round.[9][10] In August 2013, SilkRoad secured another $16 million, bringing its total funding to $145 million.[11][12] In May 2015, SilkRoad secured another loan for $7.5 million, bringing its total funding to $152.5 million.[13]
