Simone Stella

Simone Stella (born 1981 in Florence) is an Italian harpsichordist and organist.

Biography

He studied with Francesco Cera, Mariella Mochi and Alessandro Albenga and, in specializing master courses, with Ton Koopman, Matteo Imbruno, Luigi Ferdinando Tagliavini, Luca Scandali, Giancarlo Parodi, Stefano Innocenti, Klemens Schnorr, Ludger Lohmann, Michel Bouvard, Monika Henking, and Guy Bovet.

Career and recordings

After winning some major organ competitions in Italy (The 2nd and 3rd A. Esposito Youth Organ Competitions (Lucca, 2004–05), and the 1st Agati-Tronci International Organ Competition (Pistoia, 2008), he recorded c. 20 discs for the Italian label OnClassical including the Handel's Suites for harpsichord, I book, the complete Buxtehude, Bohm and Reincken's organ and harpsichord works. Major part of these recordings has also been released by the Dutch label Brilliant Classics in multiple CD-set.

His set of Buxtehude (Organ Works) and Reincken (Complete Works for Klavier) both gained 5-Diapason for a total of 9 discs.
