The main building was completed in 1958. The hospital adjoins Singleton Park and the main campus of the Swansea University where there is a nursing school and a school of medicine. There is also a GP-led Minor Injuries Unit which takes on some of the responsibilities typically dealt with by an Accident and Emergency department, in a more convenient location for many living in the city. The main A&E for Swansea is in Morriston.

The Maggie's Cancer Care Centre for South West Wales is located in the grounds of Singleton Hospital built according to a design by late Japanese architect Kisho Kurokawa.[1]
