Singriwala is a village in Hoshiarpur district, in Punjab, India.[1]
Demographics
According to the 2001 Census,[2] Singriwala has a population of 1,911 people. Neighbouring villages include Piplawala, Fategarh Niara and Headrowal.
History
According to local tradition, Singriwala was first settled by families of the Dhami surname. Dhami is a popular surname in Hoshiarpur. Other villages with Dhami families in Hoshiarpur include Dhamian, Chack Gujran, Piplanwala as well as other 18 villages around the Hoshiarpur district.
As the name indicates itself Singh+Garhi+Wala the fort of Sikhs in 16th century So called Singriwala later on.
