Sioen Industries

Sioen Industries is a Belgian textile manufacturer. The company comprises three divisions; the Coating Division, Apparel Division and the Industrial Applications Division. The company head office is located in Ardooie.

History

In 1907 Sioen-Sabbe is founded by Adolf Sioen in Rumbeke, he is succeeded by his son Daniel Sioen. In 1960 Jean-Jacques Sioen founds a company for producing technical (coated) textiles in Beveren. His wife, Jacqueline, starts an apparel workshop in 1967 in Roeselare for manufacturing heavy duty clothing for industrial use.

In 1977 the company moves to a new site in Ardooie, after it has outgrown its buildings in Beveren and Roeselare. In the 1980s the company expands into other countries such as France, Ireland and Tunisia. In 1991 the production plant in Ardooie is destroyed by fire, it is rebuilt in 1993 and employs 600 people.

In 1996 the company registers on the Brussels Stock Exchange and reaches a turnover of 85 million and employs 1500 people. By 2006 the company turnover has reached 339.4 million Euro and employs 4687 people in 38 subsidiaries in 14 different countries.
