This story is based on an 8-year-old girl called Daisy and her friends (in alphabetical order): Amy, Bella, Chloe, Daisy and Emily. Each girl has their birthday coming up consequently, they all decide that a sleepover party would be a good idea. Daisy is invited to Amy's, Bella's and Emily's sleepovers without hesitation. However, Chloe, who is very bossy and tries not to invite Daisy to her sleepover, starts to boss everyone into her ideas and especially torment Daisy, this then enables a sudden fear that Lily (Daisy's disabled sister) would trigger further torment from Chloe.

• Alison - Alison is Amy's first oldest sister, 16 years old.
• Abigail - Abigail is Amy's second oldest sister, 14 years old.
• Amy - Amy is the girl whose birthday falls first, 8 years old. She is best friends with Bella.
• Bella - Bella is the girl whose birthday falls next, 8 years old. She is best friends with Amy.
• Chloe - Chloe is the girl whose birthday falls second last, 8 years old. Chloe is very bossy, obnoxious and manipulative, frequently calling Daisy "Daisy Diddums".
• Emily - Emily is the girl whose birthday falls third, 8 years old. Emily is best friends with Chloe, but Chloe's behaviour is putting a big strain on their friendship. Daisy takes a shine to Emily.
• Ben - Ben is Emily's younger brother, 1 year old.
• Lily - Lily is Daisy's older sister, 11 years old, who requires round-the-clock care due to severe disabilities brought on by brain damage at birth.
• Daisy - Daisy is the main protagonist, the narrator and the girl whose birthday falls last, 8 years old. Daisy would love to have a sleepover, but is reluctant to do so because she is worried about what the others - especially Chloe - will think of Lily. Daisy desperately wants to be Emily's best friend; this happens just after the former's sleepover.

• Daisy's Mom - Mum helps Lily to take a bath and change.
• Daisy's Dad - Dad adores Daisy and plays funny games with her.
• Chloe's Mom - She is very young and has her tummy button pierced.
• Chloe's Dad - He is fat and old and a good chef.
• Emily's Mom - She is very nice to Daisy.
• Amy's Mom - She is very nice and lets Amy do nearly whatever she wants.
• Bella's Mom - She is a very good chef.
• Bella's Dad - He adores Bella and calls her fond nicknames.
• Mrs Graham - the girls' class teacher.

• Midnight - Daisy's teddy.
• Daisy - Emily's birthday teddy.
• Buttercup - Emily's teddy, but according to Emily, it was for her baby brother, who just chews his fur so Buttercup is hers.
• Little Growler- Emily's birthday present to Daisy, which frightens Lily.
