Smithville School District
Smithville School District is a school district located north of the Kansas City Metropolitan Area in Clay County, Missouri. It currently boasts a student enrollment of about 2500 students (as of 2013 school year). The south campus consists of Smithville High School (9-12), Smithville Middle School (6-8), and the Smithville Upper Elementary School (3-5). The south campus includes only the Smithville Primary Elementary School (K-2).
Smithville residents recently voted down a bond request that would have funded a new elementary school, which would have converted the other two elementary schools into K-6 buildings, which then fed into the Middle school (7-8), and eventually into the high school. It also would have expanded facilities at the high school and the parking lot. The issue is expected to go back on the ballot in the next year or two.
