SocialSafe Ltd

SocialSafe Ltd is a UK based software company responsible for developing SocialSafe, an award winning[1] social media backup tool that allows users to download their content from a variety of social networks, to their own personal data store. From within a SocialSafe library there are a number of ways to do more [what?] with the backed up data.

History

The company was started in 2009 by Founder & Chairman Julian Ranger, who has over 20 years of experience in the tech industry. His previous company, Stasys Ltd, was sold to Lockheed Martin in 2005. Initially SocialSafe was a basic tool for downloading tagged photographs from Facebook. After receiving further funding from a variety of UK and US based investors, the developer team has increased and the SocialSafe application now supports a variety of social networks and content types.

In October 2013 SocialSafe secured an additional $1m[2] in funding, bringing the total raised to around $1.855m. The last round enabled SocialSafe to build a mobile version of its desktop social media organiser tool, which will debut on iOS in mid-2014.

At present the company has 12 full-time employees, as well as several other board members, investors and advisors, including Gordon Bell.

Supported Networks

SocialSafe supports the following networks:

and many more via RSS feed.

The depth and breadth of coverage will depend on what information the respective API of each network allows third-party applications to lawfully download.

Awards

In December 2013 SocialSafe was one of 16 semi-finalists in the Startup Competition at the LeWeb Paris conference and summit. SocialSafe advanced to the grand final along with IntelClinic from Poland, and Flinja from the United States; IntelClinic were the overall winners,[3] with SocialSafe taking Silver and Flinja being awarded Bronze.
