Society of Glass Technology

Coordinates: 53°23′24″N 1°27′11″W / 53.390°N 1.453°W / 53.390; -1.453 The Society of Glass Technology is an organization for individuals and organizations with a professional interest in glass manufacture and usage. It is based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England.

Its objects "are to encourage and advance the study of the history, art, science, design, manufacture, after treatment, distribution and end use of glass of any and every kind".[1]

It was founded by W E S Turner in 1916.[2]

The Society is a founder member of the International Commission on Glass and the European Society of Glass Science and Technology.

From 1960 split into two journals:

From 2006 the journals of the Society of Glass Technology and the Deutsche Glastechnische Gesellschaft were combined as the European Journal of Glass Science and Technology.
