Sohrab Kashani (Persian: سهراب کاشانی) is an Iranian interdisciplinary artist,[1] art curator and writer.[2] He is the founding director of Sazmanab, artist collective and former not-for-profit art space in Tehran.

Super Sohrab

Super Sohrab,[3] Kashani’s alter-ego is an unsuccessful super hero who uses satire and failure in his attempts to fix local and global sociopolitical problems. Through the documentation of his failures Super Sohrab addresses the issues as well as in text and in interviews he makes with local and international news organizations. In his attempts Super Sohrab has addressed the US sanctions on Iran,[4] visa complications for Iranians, Tehran’s air pollution among other pressing topics affecting Iranians in Iran and in diaspora. The Super Sohrab series comprise performative interventions presented in photographs, videos, comics and text.[5][6]

Sazmanab,[7] formerly an independent non-profit art space and artist/curator residency in Tehran, is an artist collective that creates projects and publications, and hosts exhibitions and events off-site in collaboration with other spaces and venues.[8][9] Sazmanab was established in 2008 by Kashani and was originally based in Sadeghiyeh district in the Western part of Tehran.[10][11][12]
