Solactive is a German-based provider of financial indices. It develops, calculates and markets indices over several asset classes (equity, bonds, commodities, etc.). It has been fast growing, mainly thanks to its fixed-fee offering.[1][2] Most other traditional index providers offer variable fees which depend on the assets tied to the products based on their indices, resulting in high fees.[3][4]

Products

Solactive calculates thousands indices. The company is best known for offering tailor-made indices (also known as custom indices): the index is developed and calculated by the index provider but it is directly branded by the client. The company also creates and calculates Solactive branded indices. Overall, Solactive launches lots of smart beta, sometimes niche indices.[5] Their Solactive Guru Index has brought lots of attention in the market.[6][7] They were also the first to enter the green bond space, with the Solactive Green Bond Index.[8][9] As of December 31, 2014, Solactive had roughly 25 billion USD invested in financial products tied to indices it calculates, for instance exchange-traded funds or structured products.
