Sophia Santi (born December 6, 1981), formerly known as Natalia Cruze, is a Canadian pornographic actress and director.[1]

Early life

Santi was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba but grew up in Vancouver, British Columbia. At age 18, she moved to her mother's home state of Arizona[4] and, at age 20, to Los Angeles, California.[2] She has said that her father is Romanian, with Gypsy and Mongolian ancestry and that her mother is of Black, Irish, German & Cherokee descent.[2][5] She has described herself as being a tomboy when she was young, saying, "I have sprained each of my ankles eight to twelve times each and have torn five ligaments", resulting in her having difficulty in wearing heels.[2] During high school, she worked as a gourmet pizza chef and, afterwards, attended a trade school to become an esthetician.[6]

Career

Santi began modeling at age 14.[2] She started working as an adult model under the name Natalia Cruze, becoming the Penthouse Pet of the month for November 2002[3] and Penthouse Pet of the Year runner-up for 2005.[4][7] She started appearing in adult films in 2003.[1] She appeared on the Howard Stern show in January 2005.[8]

In 2005 she signed an exclusive contract with the porn studio Digital Playground. At that time she also changed her stage name to Sophia Santi[9] and trademarked it,[4] stating that she did not own the website NataliaCruz.com and didn't want the person who owned it to capitalize on the marketing that Digital Playground was doing for her.[5]

At age 18, Santi got a very large tattoo of a Japanese dragon, which covers most of her back[4] and left side.[1] The text on the tattoo reads そうぞうする in hiragana; one possible meaning is 想像する ("to imagine"). She has stated that since she knows tattooing is addictive, rather than getting many small tattoos she preferred to have one very large tattoo, on which she will continue to have work done from time to time. She also has a smaller tattoo of a butterfly on the right side of her belly.[5]

Santi is interested in both natural medicine and spirituality. She is a devotee of Ayurvedic and Tantric philosophies.[4] She has described herself as bisexual.[5]
