Sound Factory was a dance music duo from Sweden consisting of producers James Gicho as well as Emil Hellman and produced by Stonebridge. They had three entries on the Hot Dance Music/Club Play chart in the mid-nineties: "Understand This Groove" in '92, "2 the Rhythm" in '93 and "Good Time" in '94 which hit number-one and was their most successful single.[1]
The original version of "Understand This Groove" was by UFI feat Franke Pharoah - "Understand This Groove" on Virgin Records UK 1990. The Sound Factory version which came out in 92 is more like a remix of the original and even prompted Franke to remix and re-release his original track on China Records UK. however the story has a twist, Virgin Records sub label Union City Recordings UK decided to remix and re-release the original Franke release also, both versions were released on the same day, 24 September 1992.
The track couldn't be used on their first full-length CD "Product". It was re-recorded as "Get On The Floor" as the replacement track. It was explained on the CD's liner notes that it was due to legal reasons and added "Sorry Franke" which gave you a hint as to why "Understand This Groove" was excluded in the first place.
