Sourcebits Inc. is a "design-led engineering" services company based in San Francisco, CA — with another office in Bangalore, India — focused on the design and development of mobile applications, games, software, and web services.[1][2] Named a 2014 "Cool Vendor in Services" by Gartner, Sourcebits was acquired by Globo plc on June 30, 2014.[3]

History

Sourcebits was founded in 2006 by Rohit Singal. The company has headquarters in San Francisco, California with additional offices in Bangalore, India and employees throughout Europe.

The company received Series A funding of $10 million in 2011 by Sequoia Capital[4] and IDG Ventures. Sourcebits has served hundreds of clients, including large enterprises like GE, SAP, Intel, MIT, Procter & Gamble, Hershey’s, and Coca-Cola, as well as emerging technology companies such as Mobeam, Knocking, Peel, TwitPic, CloudOn, and Sling Media.

Sourcebits has appeared in media outlets including CBS[5] and The Wall Street Journal.[6]

In April 2014, Gartner named Sourcebits a 2014 "Cool Vendor in Services." [7]

On June 30, 2014 Globo plc, a publicly traded enterprise mobility company based in Greece, announced it acquired the services division of Sourcebits. [8]

On January 14, 2016 it was announced that Sourcebits has opened a new 250 seater state-of-the-art development centre in Bangalore, India.[9][10]

Products

The company has executed over 550 mobile, web, and cloud solutions on platforms including iOS, Android, BlackBerry, Symbian, and Windows Phone, with more than 30 apps reaching the top ten in their respective categories in global app stores.[11][12]

Specific products that stand out amongst others include the first custom alarm clock for iPhone, Night Stand HD 2, a concept redesign of Google Glass[13] a dating app called Twine,[14][15][16] and a game called Apocalypse Max.[17][18]
