South-east Commonwealth Marine Reserve Network
The South-east Commonwealth Marine Reserve Network is a series of marine protected areas located in waters within the Australian Exclusive economic zone south of the Australian continent and extending from the coast of South Australia in the west to Victoria in the east including Bass Strait, and to waters south of Tasmania including those around Macquarie Island in the south.[1]
The network consists of the following marine reserves (anticlockwise from the most westerly portion) :
- Murray Commonwealth Marine Reserve (off South Australia)
- Nelson Commonwealth Marine Reserve (off South Australia)
- Zeehan Commonwealth Marine Reserve (off Tasmania)
- Franklin Commonwealth Marine Reserve (off Tasmania)
- Tasman Fracture Commonwealth Marine Reserve (off Tasmania)
- Macquarie Island Commonwealth Marine Reserve
- South Tasman Rise Commonwealth Marine Reserve (off Tasmania)
- Huon Commonwealth Marine Reserve (off Tasmania)
- Freycinet Commonwealth Marine Reserve (off Tasmania)
- Flinders Commonwealth Marine Reserve (off Tasmania)
- East Gippsland Commonwealth Marine Reserve (off Victoria)
- Beagle Commonwealth Marine Reserve (off Victoria)
- Boags Commonwealth Marine Reserve (off Tasmania)
- Apollo Commonwealth Marine Reserve (off Victoria)
