The South African Law Journal is the world's second-oldest law journal after the University of Pennsylvania Law Review. It was established in 1884, making it one year older than England's Law Quarterly Review. It was edited for years at the University of the Witwatersrand Law School, first by Bobby Hahlo, and then for a period of over fifty years by Ellison Kahn. Graham Glover (Rhodes University) is currently on a three-year term as its managing editor.
