South Cobb High School is a public high school located on Clay Road, in Austell, Georgia, United States. Founded in 1952, South Cobb High School is part of the Cobb County School District. On June 25, 2009, Dr. (Then Mr.) Ashley Hosey, the previous assistant principal at Kennesaw Mountain High School, succeeded Dr. Grant Rivera as principal (Dr. Rivera then became principal of nearby Campbell High School). Nominated National School of Excellence, South Cobb High School participates in the Cobb County magnet program. The school houses the county's program for medical sciences.

The Academy of Research and Medical Sciences at South Cobb High School

The Academy of Research and Medical Sciences at South Cobb High School is a rigorous and selective program for students interested in the research and healthcare fields, created in 2001. The Magnet Coordinator from 2001- 2007 was Mr. Ryan Fuller. The program changed its name from The Academy of Mathematics and Medical Science to its current name, The Academy of Research and Medical Sciences. The Magnet Coordinator from 2007-2009 was Dr. Joanne Lee. The magnet coordinator after Dr. Lee was Dr. Erika Ijames-Wilson who was Magnet Coordinator from 2009-2015 and she was also a former senior research teacher. The current Magnet Coordinator is Dr. Andrew Kutscher. Students enrolled in this program take the most rigorous classes possible at the school and receive college credits for certain classes completed. The program also allows students to participate in medical internships which can translate into future career opportunities.

Blue Eagle Marching Band

The Blue Eagle Marching Band is the school's marching band program, led by Band Director Zac Cogdill. In January 2009, the marching band traveled to Washington, D.C., and performed in the Inaugural Parade for Barack Obama as 44th U.S. President, having been selected by the Presidential Inaugural Committee to represent the state of Georgia. The trip was made possible by many sponsors from around the Atlanta area including Atlanta Peach Movers, Lockheed Martin and Atlanta radio station WWWQ (Q100).

Freshman Transition Academy

In the fall semester of 2011, rising ninth graders coming to South Cobb High School will enter the new Freshman Transition Academy. They will attend to their school day in a separate building from the rest of the student body, a "school within a school,"[1] for classes, for attendance, and for lunch. Students will also be required to wear uniforms. The purpose of the Freshman Transition Academy is to promote a sense of belonging, teacher-student relationships, improved academic performance, and improved attendance rates. The graduating Class of 2015 is the first to utilize the Freshmen Transition Academy, also known as the FTA building.
