The South Meetinghouse is a historic ward hall on Marcy Street and Meeting House Hill in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. Completed in 1866, this two-story wood frame structure was built on the site of a 1731 meeting house, and was the only major civic structure on the south side of Portsmouth, a predominantly residential area. It is predominantly Italianate in style, with round-arch windows, and paired brackets in the cornice of the cupola, but also exhibits Greek Revival features, including a four-column Doric porch and Ionic entablature.[2]
The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.[1]
