South Surrey is a neighbourhood of Surrey, British Columbia. It borders on the City of White Rock, and with 10,535 seniors, South Surrey has the largest concentration of people over the age of 60 in all of Surrey's town centres.[1]
At the time of the 2001 census, the total population of South Surrey was 53,980.
South Surrey comprises all of the Semiahmoo peninsula other than the small wedge of White Rock, and lies between Mud Bay to the northwest and Semiahmoo Bay to the south.
South Surrey includes the neighbourhoods of Crescent Beach, Crescent Heights, Elgin, Chantrell Creek, Grandview Heights, Hazelmere, Johnson Heights, Morgan Creek, Ocean Park, and Sunnyside.
South Surrey has a BCHL hockey team called the Surrey Eagles, who play at the local South Surrey Arena. Scott Gomez, who has accrued over 700 career NHL points, enjoyed a highly productive campaign with the Surrey Eagles over the 1996-97 season.
The four high schools serving this region are Semiahmoo Secondary School, Earl Marriott Secondary School, Elgin Park Secondary School, and Southridge School.
South Surrey and the City of White Rock are the catchment area for Peace Arch Hospital.
