Southern States University (SSU) is a for-profit American university with four locations in Southern California.[1] The Chancellor is John Tucker.

History

The institution was founded in 1983, originally in Orange County, California.[2] Its current owner is Tepper Technologies, Inc., which purchased it in 2005.[3]

Southern States University (SSU) is a private school in Southern California with over 650 active students from more than 40 countries. The school has three campuses in San Diego and one campus in Newport Beach. Southern States University offers a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) degree and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree. SSU offers TOEFL test preparation course and intensive beginner through advanced English courses. Enrollment at the University has been steadily climbing in 2006-2011.[4] The uniqueness of the Southern States University is in its own financial model that allows students to pay for education without applying for students loans.[5]

SSU is based in San Diego, California. It has campuses in San Diego, the San Diego area community of La Jolla, the San Diego area community of Pacific Beach, and in Newport Beach, California.[2][6]

Accreditation and approvals

Southern States University was accredited in August 2010 by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools in August 2010,[7] a national accreditor in the United States. SSU has maintained "Institutional Approval" status from the California Bureau of Private Postsecondary Education (BPPE) since the University's acquisition by Tepper Technologies in 2006, certifying that it has continued to meet the state's statutory requirements for a private postsecondary institution.[8]
