Southern Zonal Council

The Southern Zonal Council comprises the states of Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Telangana and the Union Territories Lakshadweep and Puducherry.

The States have been grouped into six zones having an Advisory Council forster cooperation among these States. Five Zonal Councils were set up vide Part-III of the States Reorganisation Act, 1956. The North Eastern States' special problems are addressed by another statutory body - The North Eastern Council, created by the North Eastern Council Act, 1971.[1] The present composition of each of these Zonal Councils is as under:[2]
